The
Nicotine Patch
Helped
me deal with withdrawal Symptoms.
Nicotine
addiction is one of the major reasons why people can’t quit
smoking. The withdrawal symptoms has been known to drive some
people absolutely nuts, it is after all a drug. Drug addictions
are tough to beat and nicotine addiction is as tough to beat as
any other addiction. The Nicotine Patch, which is one
method of nicotine replacement therapy, was an absolute lifesaver
to my stop smoking success. This may or may not be the way you
would like to proceed as a method to stop smoking, but you should
certainly investigate it’s viability. I highly recommend
the Nicotine Patch
method simply because it worked for me.
Remember nicotine replacement therapy only deals with the physical
aspects of addiction. It does not address the psychological side
of smoking. This then is the reason for the Free
Stop Smoking Guide which will cover that area.
About
The Nicotine Patch
The
nicotine patch is the predominant leader in what is known as “nicotine
replacement therapy”. Simply put the nicotine patch, also
known as “trans dermal nicotine systems” reduces nicotine
withdrawal symptoms and cravings by providing a measured dose
of nicotine through the skin.
Please
note that if you are pregnant or have a heart condition you should
see your Doctor before using this product or any other “replacement
therapy” product for that matter.
The
nicotine patch by the way can be purchased over the counter, prescriptions
are not needed. Having said that if you have a prescription plan
it may be covered. Mine was and it saved me a few dollars.
Nicotine
Patch at Work
There
are different types of nicotine patch. Some are 16 hours others
24 hours. Others may have longer or shorter programs. Be aware
that using a patch delivers less nicotine in the blood stream
than smoking.
I
used a product called NicoDerm, which has a 3-step 10-week program.
If you smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day you would go to step-1
as I did. You put a nicotine patch on your upper arm, shoulder
or wherever which feels comfortable to you.
Step
1, wear a patch that contains 21mg of nicotine on your body every
24 hours for 6 weeks.
Step
2, wear a patch that contains 14mg every 24 hours for 2 weeks.
Step
3, wear a patch that contains 7mg every 24 hours for 2 weeks.
After
ten weeks you are done and hopefully cured of any craving or withdrawal
symptoms. Warning: Some people error by stopping the usage of
these patches too early in the program. As a result they relapse
and start smoking again. If you decide to use this method please
complete the 10-week program.
My
personal observations as a patch user are very favorable. First
and foremost was the fact that I was able to handle the withdrawal
symptoms. The patch made a huge difference. No the patch is not
a magic wand, you still need to have a strong desire to quit,
but it helped a lot. My wife wasn’t running away from me
like she usually does when I try to stop smoking. I wasn’t
as edgy and fidgety as I usually am when I quit. I felt normal…
well… as normal as I can be, which is kinda normal :-)
I
mention several other products on this web site because I realize
that not everyone will want to use the same systems that I have
used. Whichever way you decide to go is up to you. Make sure you
read my Free
Stop Smoking Guide it’s free and will make all the difference.
It did for me and I am sure it will help you too.
