Are
your Teens smoking? Talk to them and discuss the risks of tobacco
use. If you know someone with a tobacco related illness discuss
it with your adolescent.
If
you smoke don't smoke in front of them. If you smoke explain to
them how hard it is to quit and that because you are addicted
to a drug called nicotine, the withdrawal symptoms are very difficult
to overcome. Some want to smoke because they think it's cool.
Explain
that stinky tobacco breath is not cool, stinky tobacco smelling
clothes aren't cool and hacking and coughing as they soon will
be doing is really not cool at all. Be non-threatening and understanding.
Be supportive. If you say DON'T you know they WILL. Be tactful.
